The San Antonio Youth Presents....AGAIN!

They say lightning never strikes the same place twice. In 2000 I got the chance to write and direct my first play. Simply put, it was the sweetest memory for me these past 17 years in Church. Never in my wildest dreams did I believe that I would get the chance to restage “The San Antonio Youth Presents...” a second time!

I just want to thank EVERYONE involved for sharing their time and talents to make this dream a reality :)

Thank you Migi, Yani, Paolo, Chrissie, Sarah, Miguel, Weejoe, Mitch, Tara, Javi, Alyssa, Jaime, Bernice, Andy, Lia, James, AK, Trina, Chino, Ramon, Isabel, Josh, Paolo, Joanne. YOU GUYS ROCK!

Thank you for making MY Christmas :)

Anyway, here’s the collage I promised :) I’m pretty sure I’ve got everyone in there but if you’re missing please let me know. It’s rather big (size is 17 x 11 inches) but printable. In fact I know a place that can have this digitally printed for 100 bucks. Let me know if any of you are interested in getting a copy printed. I plan to have it printed on Friday so text me (09209280991) or email me elgoodo7@yahoo.com) if you want a copy.

And Now, a word from Ben...

A grand HELLO to all you beautiful parishioners out there!! Of course…not as beautiful as me.  Allow me to introduce myself, I am Benluigi Mariachi Alexander Pancratius Maliyari Tot III, BEN for short – future Broadway star and only THE most gifted and pulchritudinous Christmas play actor San Antonio has ever had the honor to ever witness.  Anyway, enough of moi (although I could continue talking about wonderful me more if you wish).  I am here to talk about some more urgent matters.

Our original director, who shall remain nameless, was reported to have contracted the very rare rainbow-colored African mosquito disease and is now suffering from varying bouts of schizophrenia.  But lo and behold, a new hero has emerged.  No no, I know what you’re thinking but it’s not me.  Young and optimistic Derrick Miguel has boldly stepped in to fill his gigantic….shoes and has been coming up with a few brilliant ideas…like the kidnapping of Santa Clause and even a musical.  They are all fantastic ideas that even pose a creative challenge to THIS seasoned veteran of the stage...yours truly.   Anyway, since the final plot of the play is still kept heavily under wraps, we have decided to simply call it “The San Antonio Youth Presents….Again”, although if you ask me calling it “Just Ben” would have been perfect.

So I invite everyone to watch ME, oh alright….my friends and I on December 22-23 at 7pm at the Parish Center.  Tickets are available now at the Parish office and will also be available at the gate on play nights.  Proceeds from the play will go to our beneficiary, Kapatid.

I look forward to seeing you all. Arrivederci and Toodles!

An Interview with the director of the SAN ANTONIO YOUTH PRESENTS…AGAIN

We are here today with the new director of this year’s YSA Christmas play, Derrick Miguel.  He has graciously given us a few minutes of his precious time in order to enlighten us more on this year’s play entitled “The San Antonio Youth Presents…Again”

Parish Bulletin: So Derrick, thank you so much for granting us this time for a quick interview.

Derrick: You’re Welcome.

PB: So let’s start with the play’s story?  As I recall as of last week’s bulletin, you were still looking for a story?

D: Um…yes we were, but I’m glad to say that as of today, we have finally decided on a story for the play.  It’s going to be about the uh, um…the Nativity. YES!  That’s right, we’re doing a story about the Nativity!  That always makes a great Christmas story right?

PB:  The nativity?  Well that should be interesting, but hasn’t the youth always prided themselves on presenting original stories written by the youth themselves?

D:  See that’s the fun of this year’s play; everyone knows the story of the Nativity.  The real challenge is to add some sort of dimension to the story to keep it new and fresh.  We’re going to present the story of the nativity from the view point of one of the other characters who were present then.

PB: Oh you mean like the Nativity as seen through the eyes of the shepherds or the three wise men?

D: Exactly!  Except we’re going for a more unique viewpoint, form someone less popular or obvious.

PB:  So whose point of view are you working on?

D: Well at this point it’s a toss up between the cow, the sheep and Samson.

PB:  The cow, the sheep and…Samson?  I’m sorry; I didn’t know that there was a Samson in the story of the Nativity.

D: There wasn’t? Oh well, that’s another fun part of this play, we can ADD new characters like Samson to this new adaptation.  The possibilities are endless.  Uh oh look at the time, I’ve got to go, can’t be late for rehearsals; my cast is ALWAYS on time you know.

PB: Alright, but before you go, can you give us a few parting words?

D: Sure!  Please watch “The San Antonio Youth Presents…Again” on December 22-23, 2007, at the San Antonio Parish Center.  Show starts at 7 and tickets are available in the Parish Office or at the gate during play nights.  See you there!

Arnel Pineda is the lead singer of this covers band ZOO in tthe Philippines. And apparently the guys from Journey discovered his Youtube video and were impressed enough to have him audition for the lead singer gig. Supposedly he's the front runner for the job! cool huh? :)

TURTLES NEED A HOME

Hi my family and I are finally moving out of our house where we've lived in for 30 years.  Unfortunately, out new place, while really nice, doesn't have any room for my 3 pet turtles, Shaq, Kobe & Optimus Prime.

So would anyone be interested in taking them in?  ANyone have a pond or something in their house or an unused swimming pool where they can live?  They're green slider turtles, you know the ones you see in Bioresearch however they've grown quite big.  At least about 6 inches long..

They're pretty much hassle free pets....they don't bark or piss and poo all over the place and pretty much keep to themselves :)  as long as they have access t o water and daily sunlight.

anyway, if you're interested or if you know someone who is, pls let me know ASAP as we're moving by next week.
